Project Manager vs. Alternate Project Manager

Summary

Explains the similarity and differences between manager and alternate manager.

Body

Below is a list of the actions a manager, alt manager and resource can take.  Please note that the actions are dependent also on security roles.  This comes into play heavily with resources.

  • Project Manager – Can perform all actions on a project (editing, adding resources, editing plans, closing, updating, changing managers, changing roles)
  • Alt Project Manager – Can perform all functions of a project manager except change managers
  • Resources – Assuming TDNext access they will be limited to view sections such as resources, details, ext.  The functions this role can perform will be closely tied to the security role they are given.  For example a resource could be assigned a security role allowing them to add issues.  If you want that to be limited, you would have to adjust their security role.  Below is a snapshot for example.
